1. Local

Every year the Shropshire Beekeepers Association takes part in activities and displays run by such organisations as The National Trust, and Acton Scott Farm Museum. We will sometimes have products for sale.  We will always be happy to talk about bees and beekeeping! Notification of particular appearances will be posted here as and when they are arranged.

We are also able to offer talks to schools in support of the National Curriculum. Teachers interested in discussing this should email the

The biggest event of our year is the Shrewsbury Flower Show, which takes place in the Quarry Park in Shrewsbury every August. Association members organise a major display of bee products, with competitive classes for honey, mead, beeswax items and so on. Bees can be seen in the Observation Hive and there is often a chance to watch demonstrations by beekeepers of their skills. The best honey from all over the County is also available to taste and/or buy. The 2012 show will be on the 10th & 11th of August.

2. Events Elsewhere

Hartpury College in Gloucestershire is running 4 courses on different aspects of Beekeeping during 2012. For further information, click on this link.

On Saturday 24th March the Welsh Beekeepers Association is holding its annual Convention on the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells. It runs from 8.45 am onwards and there are speakers, trade stands and an opportunity to get advice and information. For further details see here.

The British Beekeepers Association's annual Convention runs over three days from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd April. On the Saturday it is open to the public for the display and sale of anything and everything to do with beekeeping. There is also a full programme of lectures and other events to inform and entertain. The other two days are for BBKA members only, when you have an opportunity to book for instructional courses and special lectures.

This year, for the first time, the Convention is being staged at Harper Adams University College, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 8NB. This means that it is more conveniently accessible for Shropshire beekeepers than ever before. To see the programme and to order tickets see the BBKA website.
