There are two classes of membership available. One is Associate Membership, which is suitable for those who either do not keep bees or are full members of another Association. The other is Full Membership, which includes a levy for membership of the British Beekeepers' Association to which the Shropshire Association is affiliated. The benefits of the two classes of membership are listed below.
Associate Membership
- Monthly meetings on topics associated with bees and beekeeping.
- A monthly newsletter
- Regular contact with other enthusiasts

- Visits to beekeepers' apiaries
- The opportunity to observe and help in the Association apiary
- Support and advice if you decide that you want to keep bees yourself

Full Membership
Benefits include all the above, plus
- Membership of the British Beekeepers Association
- A bi-monthly BBKA Newsletter
- Insurance cover up to £5 million for
- (a) Public Liability for harm caused by your bees and
- (b) Product Liability (including sales through Farmers' Markets)
- Bee Diseases Insurance to cover the loss of bees and/or equipment through a
compulsory destruction order
- Reduced subscription to the BBKA's journal BeeCraft (optional)
- Help with acquiring bees through the collection of swarms or the purchase of colonies
- Access to SBKA equipment such as an extractor, microscope etc.
- The support of a mentor to help with practical beekeeping problems
